DEFY Masonry Crack & Joint Sealant is a brushable elastomeric sealant for brick and mortar joints used to repair exterior cracks in mortar on chimneys, brick walls and between concrete or stone masonry units.  The product seals larger cracks and other defects that cannot be corrected with water repellents alone.  Product seals cracks up to 1/8in wide on brick faces and at mortar and brick joint interfaces to provide waterproof protection.  It dries clear to milky white, depending on the size of the crack.  DEFY Sealant prevents water infiltration and subsequent damage, yet allow water vapor to escape.  When applied to a properly prepared wall or chimney surface, DEFY Sealant can solve tough leak problems without the expense of tuckpointing or surface grouting.  Product will not significantly change the appearance of most walls, chimneys or masonry surfaces.  A slight gloss will occur on dense surfaces.  Testing is recommended before treating any surface to ensure desired results.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Surface Preparation: Carefully prepare surface by repairing any loose or missing mortar joints or brick faces.  Remove all dirt, dust, and moss growth prior to application of DEFY Sealant.  For maximum water repellent protection apply a DEFY masonry water repellent prior to the application of product.  Allow solvent based formulations to dry completely.  DEFY Sealant can be applied to surfaces still damp from application of DEFY water-based water repellent.

Application: Mix thoroughly; do not thin.  Brush horizontal bed joints with DEFY Sealant using the 4 inch wide brush.  Then apply product to head joints using smaller 1 inch wide head-joint brush.  Fill all cracks and voids thoroughly.  After a few minutes smooth excess areas with a clean brush or rag to prevent product build-up on brick faces.  Apply DEFY Sealant only when existing temperatures exceed 40°F.  Avoid getting product on non-targeted surfaces.

Clean Up: Remove any excess or spills with clean rags or soap and water before DEFY Sealant cures.  Wash brushes and equipment with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
 

Coverage Rates: A half-gallon container of DEFY Sealant will treat the mortar joints surrounding approximately 550 standard size bricks, or approximately 100 square feet of wall surface.  Actual coverage rates will vary with the size of masonry units, the degree of damage, and the width and porosity of the mortar joints.

CAUTIONS
Keep from children. Protect from freezing.  Keep container closed.  Respiratory protection is not generally required during normal use and handling.  The use of protective gloves and chemical splash goggles is recommended.  Wash thoroughly after handling.  Do not take internally.  If swallowed, call a physician.  For eye contact, flush with water for 15 minutes and get prompt medical attention if necessary.  For skin contact, wash with soap and water.  Refer to MSDS for specific information.

Since field conditions vary widely, the user must determine the suitability of the product for the particular use and specific method(s) of application.  Due to the fact that SaverSystems has no control over surface preparation and application methods, no guarantee as to results is offered, expressed, or implied.  SaverSystems only warrants the contents of the container.  If the product is defective, a refund of the material cost or replacement material will be provided at the manufacturers option.  This warranty does not include labor or cost of labor for the application of DEFY Sealant.  SaverSystems shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages resulting from any breach of the warranty and fitness for use.  Some states do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusions may not apply to you.  This warranty gives you specific legal rights.  You may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
