Can MasonrySaver be painted over?
A coating such as paint is usually not recommended for masonry. However, if necessary, apply MasonrySaver first, allow it to dry completely, then apply a good quality oil based paint. MasonrySaver should never be applied over paint as it will not penetrate the coating.  Before
painting over any SaverSystems water repellent you must follow these guidelines:

  • No latex or water based coating can be applied directly over any of our water repellent products.
  • A solvent or oil based primer should be applied first. Then follow manufacturers instructions for the primer as to what type of top coat can be applied next.
  • Always apply a test patch in an inconspicuous area to ensure an acceptable job.

Solvent cleaners such as Goof Off, OOPS!, or mineral spirits may be used.
